Do you agree that counting calories ruins girls' lifes?
I started to count calories in order to lose weight. I lost the weight that I wanted [about 10 to 20 lbs] and now I can;t stop counting,I can't enjoy my food like I used to,I didn't even know what calorie meant!! I'll go out eating in a middle eastern restaurant and I'll be like "how many calories could this have?possibly 400 with this feta cheese and olive oil" or "how many tablespoons is this????10000???:S".I didn't even use to wonder that!! I used to eat until I'm satisfied and laugh and stuff, not look at my food like this!! Do You Agree?!!

Middle Eastern dessert recipe?
Twenty some-odd years ago we often visited a Middle Eastern restaurant in St. Louis. They served a light custardy fruit concoction that the waiter called "Ogg-nee". He didn't know what its English name was, how to spell it or even how to make it--and the cook and other staff knew even less English. Despite looking for years, I've not run across anything like it in another restaurant, cookbook or Web site. It was awfully good, though. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

what are some good recipes using hummus and other middle eastern foods?
I used to go to a middle eastern restaurant which closed and I wish I could have gotten some of the recipes. There was an appetizer that was hummus with other ingredients (perhaps peppers or tomatoes) served with pita bread. Does anyone have any recipes that go along this line? There were also these balls of beef on a stick, I'm just curious what these might have been and how to make them. Sorry that's not very specific, but it's been so long since I've had the food, that I can't remember specifically what ingredients were used in the dishes. I also remember some kind of a cucumber salad which was basically diced cucumber in a milky sauce with what I believe was a bit of a minty taste . any suggestions, recipes? thankyou hourglass: YES! Kefta! I couldn't remember that name! yes, the cucumber salad is delish!!! thanks to all for the answers and the great links!
